Senator Joe Haynes

A native of Benton County, Willie "Butch" Borchert is in his fourth term serving the people of House District 75 in the Tennessee House of Representatives. He currently serves as Secretary of the House Agriculture Committee. In addition to Representative Borchert’s leadership position, he also serves on the Environment and Conservation Committee and the Joint Committee on Veterans Affairs.

Representative Borchert was born May 12, 1937 into a working class family. One of eleven brothers and sisters, he was brought up to know and respect the value of hard work and determination. After graduating from high school, Borchert entered the pipefitter apprenticeship. He worked for years as a pipefitter all over the state and even the country. He is a member of the Tennessee Pipetrades Union Local 572.

On May 25, 1958, Butch married his wife Christine. They have one son, Tim and two grandchildren, Amanda and Shawn. Representative Borchert and his family owned and operated the Catfish Place in Camden, TN for over 17 years before selling it to its current owners in 1995.
